Lydia Owola, Community Health Manager, Living Goods Kenya

I joined Living Goods in December 2015 as a Community Health Manager in Kenya, and I was drawn to Living Good’s work serving underserved communities working for research organizations. I wanted to continue working for rural communities.

It has been six incredible years of working to ensure that Living Goods and the specific programs we support are results-driven. As a result, Living Goods services are timely and well received by the communities through doorstep service delivery through our well-trained community health workers. The most exciting part of my experience is my recognition as the best performing Community Health Manager in the two branches I have worked in – Malaba and Nambale.

I have had great opportunities to learn and grow my career over the last six years, where I have seen the increased service delivery for prenatal and antenatal care and increased safe institutional deliveries. I have also seen a notable reduction in morbidity rates.

I am currently part of the Staff Forum Team, serving my second term representing the Busia team, where I ensure all the concerns reach the management team for action.

I have also enjoyed flexitime allowing me to take care of my children and family, not forgetting the Education Support Fund and the study leave that Living Goods offers. Living Goods’ future is bright!
