Rosemary Lunkuse, Community Health Manager, Living Goods Uganda

I joined Living Goods in October 2010 as Community Health Supervisor overseeing and supporting 35 community health workers (CHWs) but having grown to a team of 267 CHWs helping mothers with post-natal care and children suffering from malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia.

Having grown up in one of the biggest slums in Kampala, witnessing endless child deaths from preventable illnesses, it was an opportunity for me to make an impact and stop the cycle. That is why I decided to work for Living Goods, which works towards saving the lives of children living in underserved and underprivileged communities.

It has been ten exciting years with Living Goods. I have seen transformation and progress over the period. One of the notable progress we made is the change from a manual paper-based system of tracking information to the current digital tracking system, resulting in reduced error rates.

I have been part of the digitization pilots program and scaling-up initiatives. I have gained donor relation skills. I had the opportunity to mentor fellow team members, many of whom have been promoted in their respective roles.

I have enjoyed Living Goods’ remote working option, which has increased parenting time, cost savings, and improved output, especially during this pandemic.

Rosemary greets Living Goods Uganda Country Director Christine Namayanja and Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu, Minister of State for Primary Healthcare at Uganda’s MoH at the launch of the Community Engagement Strategy for Covid19 at Komamboga Health Centre III in Kampala.
