Proving Our Impact

Living Goods is obsessed with data and laser-focused on results. We track impact against the indicators that drive a reduction in under-five mortality, including sick child treatments and referrals, new pregnancies supported, family planning refills and referrals, and newborns visited within the first 48 hours of birth, among others.

By partnering with governments to equip community health workers with digital tools for data collection and service delivery support, we ensure our impact is measurable, scalable, and durable.

We have indirectly supported 270,000 CHWs through our work with governments’ national digitization and policy efforts. At less than $3 per person reached, Living Goods’-directly supported CHWs:
Registered 2 million pregnancies from 2009-2024.
Carried out 18 million sick child treatments from 2009-2024.
Improved full immunization coverage for children in Kenya by 69% and in Uganda by 36% between 2022 and 2024.
Even though we are a nonprofit, we operate with the efficiency and accountability of the private sector. We set bold targets, adapt quickly, learn continuously, and ensure our programs are effective and scalable. Our work is driven by the belief that every community deserves access to life-saving health services—and we are determined to make that a reality.

A 2014 randomized controlled trial in Uganda showed that Living Goods-supported community health workers reduced under-5 mortality by 27% for less than $2 per person annually.

Preliminary results from a 2021 external RCT of Living Goods-supported CHWs in Uganda show a strong and statistically significant 30% reduction in U5 child mortality and a 27% reduction in infant mortality, compared to control areas.
