Who We Help

Living Goods focuses on three related crises in the developing world: 1) the woefully inadequate distribution of life-saving products, 2) the dire shortage of healthcare workers, and 3) the failure of life-changing innovations, like clean cook-stoves and solar lamps, to reach scale. Each of these problems increases in severity at the “last mile” where the need is greatest. Consequently, 270 million people in Africa lack regular access to life’s most essential products. Through our networks of Avon-like entrepreneurs Living Goods is dramatically increasing access to a wide-range of life-saving and life-changing products for people living on just a few dollars a day. And while our ultimate focus is on improving the health and wealth of the customers we serve, the benefits of our model go far beyond our customer base. Our model creates sustainable incomes for thousands of women entrepreneurs, reduces the resource burden at public health centers, and helps build the market for new product technologies. All told, Living Goods is building a powerful double-bottom line business designed to save lives, create livelihoods, preserve limited public resources, and grow markets for pro-poor products.
