Ugandan Ministry of Health Launches the National Community Health Strategy

We congratulate the Ministry of Health of Uganda upon the critical milestone of launching the National Community Health Strategy, as envisioned in the Community Health Acceleration Roadmap launched in 2019.

At the ceremony held yesterday in Kampala, Christine Namayanja, our Country Director in Uganda gave remarks on behalf of the implementing partners and Civil Society Organisations in the presence of the Minister of Health, MPs and other senior officials from the government, the funding community, and norm-setting institutions.

She reiterated our commitment to supporting the government in implementing the strategy—which articulates how digitally enabled CHWs who are paid and equipped with training, medicines and supportive supervision are effective in promoting health, offering basic life-saving services, and preventing diseases in communities.

In the coming months, partners will work hand in hand with the government to disseminate the strategy at the national, district, and community levels, and support resource mobilization efforts.

Living Goods supported the ministry in the development and launch of the strategy.
