We place a strong emphasis on ensuring that newborns can access life-saving community-based primary health services. The first month of life carries the greatest risk of child mortality; WHO data indicates that 7,000 newborns die every day, and their mothers also face some of the greatest health risks immediately post-partum. Our mobile app enables CHWs to track mothers throughout their pregnancies–from the first point of contact through labor–and ensure that every child is visited within their first 48 hours to identify any danger signs, ensure the baby is immediately and exclusively breastfed, kept warm, and remains free from infection. Follow-up protocols enable ongoing visits to happen at regular intervals. CHWs don’t merely assess and treat common childhood illnesses for children under age one, they also play a strong role in educating the mother on health issues and instilling positive behavior change.
