Evidence in Action
A 2013 randomized control trial of Living Goods supported CHWs demonstrated a 27% reduction in under-5 mortality at an estimated average cost of $68 per life-year saved.
A 2021 randomized control trial further linked Living Goods’ community health program in Uganda to a 28% reduction in child mortality.
Our Three-Pronged Approach
- Strengthening delivery through learning sites: Living Goods operates learning sites where we deliver high-impact health services, test innovations to improve community health worker (CHW) performance, and generate evidence to showcase what’s possible in government-led community health systems.
- Implementation support: Living Goods works side by side with governments through on-the-ground “co-implementation support” to replicate and scale evidence-based best practices, strategies, and digital tools drawn from our learning sites. In these government-led sites, we collaborate on the implementation and funding of the DESC (Digitally-Enabled, Equipped, Supervised, Compensated) elements.
- Shaping the enabling environment: We work at the national and sub-national levels to influence policies, mobilize funding, and support the digitization of community health systems to create conducive environments and sustainable conditions that CHWs need to operate effectively.
