We have some truly exciting and important news: We have a new leader who is going to take Living Goods to great new heights!
In May, the Living Goods Board of Directors announced they had selected our outstanding colleague Liz Jarman as our next Chief Executive Officer, moving our organization’s top leadership from San Francisco to our hub of operations in East Africa. Having Liz based a stone’s throw from our programs will make us even nimbler, and further strengthen the connective tissue between our daily operations and how we achieve our strategic goals of scaling rapidly, deepening our impact and influencing governments to effectively support community health. Liz will continue working out of our office in Nairobi, Kenya, while traveling regularly to our field programs, offices in Uganda, San Francisco and Washington, DC, and beyond.
Liz joined Living Goods in 2014 as our Director of Product Strategy and was promoted to Kenya Country Director in 2015. She was instrumental in launching and scaling our operations in Kenya, while significantly strengthening community health systems through impactful partnerships with governments and other implementing partners beyond Kenya. At the end of 2017, Liz was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer. Born in Zambia, Liz spent a large portion of her career in the UK at Sainsbury’s, a $30 billion grocery business where she rose to Head of Product Development and led Sainsbury’s Fairtrade strategy. She ultimately decided to follow her heart and cross over to the social sector, moving to Kenya in 2012 to work with Fairtrade Africa before joining Living Goods.
While we celebrate this development for both Liz and Living Goods, it also meant a bittersweet farewell to our wonderful friend Shaun Church, as he wrapped up his tenure as CEO last week for personal reasons. Shaun was catalytic in deepening our scale and impact as an organization, and made an indelible impact on everyone in the Living Goods family.
