Living Goods Appoints New Uganda Country Director

[Kampala—Sept. 29^th, 2020] Living Goods—a non-profit leader in strengthening and digitally-enabling community health programs—is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Namayanja as its newest Uganda Country Director. Christine will take the helm at a time of unique challenges and opportunities, as Living Goods works to ensure the continuity of essential primary health services at the last mile, while supporting disease mitigation efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

She brings to the position deep strategic experience as a leader who has managed numerous complex programs and maintains strong relationships with government and partners, alongside solid expertise in strategic health financing, family planning, and other priority areas for us organizationally,” said Liz Jarman, Living Goods’ CEO.

Christine is a seasoned leader and joins the Living Goods team with more than two decades of senior-level experience. Before joining Living Goods, she worked for Abt Associates as the Chief of Party for the five-year USAID-funded Voucher Plus Activity. Prior to that, she worked with Marie Stopes Uganda for more than 16 years. She also held a range of consultancies working in Zambia, Namibia and other countries on the continent.

“I’m excited to join Living Goods during such a significant time. The organization has done tremendous work in supporting the ministry of health (MoH) to deliver impactful reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health services at the community level,” Christine said, adding that, “I am especially eager to work with such a dynamic team of staff to advance the use of game-changing technology to deliver effective health services to mothers and children, and to help save lives during this pandemic.”

Namayanja begins her tenure on October 1^st and replaces Emilie Chambert who served in various positions over the last six years, building Living Goods’ visibility and credibility as a key health system strengthening partner to the Government. She built internal systems and spearheaded the expansion of the organisation’s reach—from 300 CHWs to 4,300+ CHWs in 20 districts. Chambert is taking up the role of Regional Director of New Country Expansion, leading a team focused on developing Living Goods’ support to MoHs in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, and other countries of exploration.
